Today Jimmy Seibert kicked off our new series, Imago Dei, which means, “in His image.” We were made in the image of God, and therefore, we’re all made to display His glory. When we know our value as sons and daughters, and know we are wholly loved by God, there is nothing that can diminish our value.

Jimmy also shared about some upcoming staff transitions. Jimmy and Laura will still serve as our senior pastors, but their role will be shifting. Jimmy will primarily be involved in strategic leadership, city outreach and serving our overall Movement, and Laura will be taking on a more pastoral role. Carl and Blair Gulley will be transitioning from College Pastors to Lead Pastors. Carl will be heading up Sunday mornings, and lead our pastoral team. Luke and Rachel Whyte will be transitioning from Young Adult Pastors to leading the College Ministry, and Chase and Lacey Moore will lead the Young Adult Ministry.

  • We are deeply shaped by culture, but our culture is constantly changing.
  • You display the glory of God in a unique way, and no one else on the planet can display His glory in the same way.
  • You are made in God’s likeness and beauty.
  • When you were born it was good, and it was exactly what God wanted.
  • You have value, beauty and glory placed on you by God’s doing, not by your choosing.
  • When you feel valued as a child of God, no one can take away your dignity.
  • No one can ever love you perfectly because they aren’t God.
  • People are drawn to glimpses of glory because we’re ultimately made for glory.
  • You have to understand God’s original intent in order to really grasp how bad sin is.
  • You are an image bearer – made to uniquely display the image of God.
  • The blood of Jesus is enough to cover any and everything.
  • Jesus calls us into sonship so we can live fully alive.

Throughout this series, we want to memorize two passages:

  • Every morning, declare Genesis 1:27-28 over yourself. “So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth…”
  • And pray Ephesians 1:17-19 every day. “That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which He has called you, what are the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His great might.”
