Church-Wide Mission Trip 2016: Baton Rouge

More than 200 people went on our church-wide and junior high mission trip to Baton Rouge this past weekend! Rain or shine, we were there to share the Gospel and serve the people of Baton Rouge. We had to move our outreaches to the mall because of the rain, but that didn’t stop us from setting up our bounce house, sno cone machine, face painting table and balloon animals. Our kids performed a drama sharing the Gospel story and we had prayer teams available for anyone who wanted to be prayed for. At our outreaches, many people heard the Gospel, gave their lives to Jesus and received prayer. We love this city! It was a blast being there, making new friends and sharing the love of Jesus with the amazing people of Baton Rouge.

AWAKEN 2016: Day 5

Our last full day of AWAKEN was awesome! We started the morning off with a message from Don Steadman about our call to not keep what we have, but share with all nations. The Gospel isn’t a story meant for American culture, it is meant for all people. We had our second carnival and had park outreaches where we had the opportunity to share the love of Jesus with many people and pray for them.

We head back to Waco today! Please join us in praying for safe travel and for the seeds of the Gospel that were planted during our time in Edinburg to take root.

Day 5 - 9

It was a beautiful last day in Edinburg but we are excited to head back to Waco!

AWAKEN 2016: Day 4

Day four was great! We started things off by hearing a powerful message from our senior pastor, Jimmy Seibert, on the power of the Holy Spirit. We also had our 2nd annual kickball tournament. The rainy weather in the afternoon and evening kept us from having our outreaches, but instead we were able to have a powerful night of worshiping and encountering God with with our teams. Today, Thursday, is our last full day. Pray for us to continue to encounter God and for the weather to clear up so we can have our second carnival tonight!

Before each morning session, the students have huge dance parties and it's a blast!

AWAKEN 2016: Day 3

We started off the morning off hearing testimonies, engaging in worship and being equipped with a message from Susan Peters about how to get and stay free. We hosted our 2nd annual carnival where people from around the city came and had the opportunity to hear and respond to the Gospel. Our teams also had the opportunity to pray for healing for people who came. We WILL and we DO see the goodness of God in the land of the living!

AWAKEN 2016: Day 2

Today, we had our first morning session where we worshiped together and Carl shared on the Father heart of God. We then went out to various locations throughout the city for service projects. We helped paint a classroom, fix up a local church, sorted at a food pantry and distributed food in a local neighborhood. We finished the day with outreaches in parks and on the local university campus. It was a great day!

AWAKEN 2016: Day 1

AWAKEN, our College Ministry’s annual spring break mission trip, has officially begun! More than 400 college students and leaders arrived safely in South Texas on Saturday, and they are excited to share the love of Jesus and serve the people of Edinburg this week. Here’s a look at their first full day:

We love staying at the Echo Hotel every year. Home, sweet home for the week.

The best way to end the day: team time. We share testimonies, encouragements and have a lot of fun with our team. It was so encouraging to hear about how people were impacted by the love of Jesus.

Please join with us in praying for AWAKEN today! Pray for God to prepare the hearts of individuals and families in Edinburg who will hear the Gospel. Our students will go out to more public parks today for an outreach and desire to see God bring salvation and transformation to all that we share during our trip.

Awaken 2015: Day 5

The Gospel is the hope of the world and many people encountered hope forevermore in Edinburg. Yesterday, today, and forever God is who He says He is. He is faithful. He is good.

Beautiful sunrise our last morning of Awaken!

Thankful for such glorious weather on the walk to the morning session.

We took some time after lunch to relax and enjoy the weather before going out for afternoon outreaches.

The last day of our outreaches was met with beautiful weather and lots of people in the parks.

Sharing the Gospel is easiest when we are able to relate to people with things they’re passionate about.

Playing games at the park.

Our second carnival was a success! Many families came and had a blast!

We shared the Gospel message at the carnival. Here, Pastor Elliot, a pastor from the local church we partnered with, shared their church’s vision so people who came could get connected to a church!

Closing out our last full day in Edinburg and cleaning up after the carnival. It was a good day!

Awaken 2015: Day 4

Day 4 consisted of the first ever Awaken Kick Ball Tournament, The Walrus and sharing the Gospel door-to-door. We saw whole families come to Jesus, healings and had opportunities to disciple and encourage believers. It was a great day!

A new dance craze is sweeping the Rio Grande Valley- “The Walrus” gets everyone excited before our morning session.

Getting excited about Day 4!

A little pre-morning session dance party to get our Wednesday going.

We got to hear from our senior pastor, Jimmy Seibert this morning. It was awesome and our faith was stirred!

Today the first Awaken kickball tournament happened! There was a bracket and Team Nu Thang was declared the champion. Win or lose, everyone had a blast!

Because of the rain, we went door-to-door and to malls to share the Gospel and pray for people. We saw whole families come to Jesus, healings and opportunities to disciple and encourage believers.

Today is our last day of outreaches! We are hosting another carnival and the sun is supposed to be out all day! Please pray for divine appointments, for people who come to the carnival to feel loved and for our students to continue to experience radical freedom and breakthrough because of this trip!

AWAKEN 2015: DAY 3

On day 3 of Awaken, our college ministry held a carnival at the Echo Hotel. Students shared the Gospel with at least 150 people and many people gave their lives to Jesus and were healed. We WILL and we DO see the goodness of God in the land of the living!

Antioch Awaken Carnival at Echo

Today students put on a free carnival for people in the community. It was a huge success! The teams saw many salvations and people received healing and prayer!

Many of the students dressed up in costumes to make the carnival extra fun for kids.

“And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony…” (‭Revelation‬ ‭12‬:‭11‬)

Bounce House fun for all.

Students performed dramas that told the Gospel story. Those not in the drama were there to help explain the story.

As we start day 4, please pray for continued energy, endurance and that our students would be filled to overflowing as they continue to minister on outreaches!

AWAKEN 2015: Day 2

Day 2 of AWAKEN was all about building community in our teams and serving the Edinburg community!

There is something so powerful about starting each day by worshiping the Lord together!

After spending time worshiping together and hearing a teaching, students break up into their teams to go and serve the community of Edinburg. The bus isn’t just a form of transportation. Much of the community building amongst the students starts from conversations had on the bus!

Students helped provide more than 12k meals for the Rio Grande Valley Food Bank!

Various teams came together to help renovate an abandoned church. They tore up carpet, cleaned up shingles, and many other jobs that cleaned up the building.

Students cleaned up shingles from the ground to bring this building one step closer to a functioning church.

Sometimes service projects on Awaken involve face masks and an abundance of dust- and a church was significantly renovated in the process!
