Antioch Kids Ministry

Exceptional Kids

The goal of Exceptional Kids is for every child to feel welcome, safe and loved. You and your child belong here! If you have a child with a disability who needs extra help to participate and feel safe and welcomed, we have buddies available in our Babies – 5th Grade classes. If it would be helpful for your family to visit our Kids Ministry area on a weekday, so you can be familiar with our space and hear about our routines, we are happy to make arrangements for you to do that.

If you have further questions or would like to set up a visit, please email Cara Key, our Assistant Pastor for The Stream and Exceptional Kids

(cara.key@antiochwaco.com).

Antioch Kids Ministry supports families through cultivating community where we: have fun, encounter God, grow through discipleship, and live on mission.

FAQs

How do you keep the kids safe?

Our campus security includes both volunteer safety team members and paid Sheriffs who monitor indoor hallways and outdoor areas. Additionally, security cameras are strategically placed throughout the Kids Ministry area. This area is contained and can only be accessed by staff, volunteers and parents with unique code stickers. All volunteers undergo thorough vetting including background checks, reference verification, staff interviews and child safety training. At no time will your child be left alone or one-on-one with another child or volunteer. If you have any questions or concerns please contact our Child Safety Team at child.safety@antiochwaco.com.

How will you contact me if needed?

At check-in, you will be given a sticker with a unique security code for your family (which changes weekly). This code will appear on the screen in the Main Auditorium if your child needs your attention.

Do you provide snacks for kids?

We have crackers and water in our 1-year-old to 4-year-old classrooms, and water is available to all of our age groups. (If your child has food allergies or sensitivities, please let us know so we can determine whether our allergen-friendly snack alternative meets their needs.)

What if my child has a disability?

Our Exceptional Kids program for babies -5th grade exists so every child feels welcomed, safe and included in Kids Ministry. Support looks different for each child based on their needs; it might be a 1:1 buddy to help them engage and take breaks as needed, placement in a class that better fits their developmental level, or access to noise-canceling headphones and fidgets during class. Other times, a child may not need weekly supports like these, but their leaders stay aware and watch for whether adjustments are needed. We’re happy to help you in navigating what is best for your child! Email further questions to Cara Key, our Assistant Pastor at cara.key@antiochwaco.com
