Palm Sunday: Welcoming the King Who Brings New Life
On Palm Sunday, we remember Jesus entering Jerusalem as crowds lined the road, laying down cloaks and palm branches and shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!” (Matthew 21:9)
Holy Monday: When the King Cleanses
On Holy Monday, Jesus entered the temple and overturned the tables of the money changers (Matthew 21:12–22). Coins scattered. Animals fled. Religious leaders were outraged.
Holy Tuesday: A King Who Expects Fruit
On Holy Tuesday, Jesus approached a fig tree looking for fruit (Matthew 21:18–22). The tree was full of leaves – outwardly healthy, visually impressive—but it bore nothing. So Jesus spoke, and it withered.
Holy Wednesday: Resting in a World Already Won
Holy Wednesday is quiet.
After the public teaching, the confrontations, the cleansing of the temple, and the growing tension in Jerusalem, the Gospel accounts fall still.
Before betrayal. Before trial. Before the cross… There is a pause.
