Part 09: You Can Change the World

Sermon Summary

This week’s message focuses on a dual call: first, to revival through personal spiritual renewal, and second, to reformation as we help transform society by bringing the Kingdom of God into every sphere through the local church and the influence of individual believers. Through powerful testimonies, we witness how God revives hearts, heals deep wounds and calls people to walk out faith not only in ministry, but also in workplaces. Each story highlights how vulnerability, community and obedience to God shapes lives, builds family and creates lasting impact.

A key highlight we hear throughout the sermon is the call to step into our God-given vocations as assignments rather than identity. The message encourages us that, whether in Congress, education, or ministry, God is present and active. Through prayer and simple everyday obedience, God can open doors and seed revival and reformation anywhere.

Key Scriptures

Revelation 12:11 - “They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.”

1 John 4:12 - “No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.”

Daniel 9:3-4 - “So I turned to the Lord God and pleaded with him in prayer and petition, in fasting, and in sackcloth and ashes. I prayed to the Lord my God and confessed: ‘Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant of love with those who love him and keep his commandments…’”

Esther 4:14 - “For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”

Matthew 28:19-20 - “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Discussion Questions

Scripture Study & Deeper Understanding

1. What does Revelation 12:11 say about the role of testimony in overcoming? How is this principle demonstrated in the stories shared during the sermon?

2. In 1 John 4:12, what does it mean that “no one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us”? How does it connect to the idea of community from the sermon?

3. In Daniel 9:3-4, Daniel is moved to pray and intercede for his nation. What led up to this moment (context), and what significance does such intercession have for both biblical Israel and for followers of Jesus today?

4. The sermon highlights how God uses everyday people in their assignments to bring revival and reformation. What does this reveal about God’s character and His desire to work through us?

5. Several testimonies described moments where faith required personal risk—praying for a supervisor, sharing a prophetic word or following an unexpected impression from God. What do these examples teach you about the connection between obedience and God’s supernatural provision?

6. What examples from the sermon gave you hope for your own life or for others you know to be revived in God (e.g., trauma, brokenness, addiction?

8. What is one specific action you can take this week to bring encouragement, prayer or practical help to someone in your “sphere of influence,” trusting God to work through simple obedience?

Prayer

9. Listening to the Holy Spirit: We're going to take focused time to listen to the Holy Spirit and what He wants to speak to us personally based on our time in Scripture and discussion tonight. Let's sit in silence for 60 seconds and ask the Spirit to speak to each one of us.

After the minute of silence: What do you sense the Holy Spirit highlighting or speaking to you as we prayed?

10. Prayer Requests from Tonight's Study: What prayer requests come up for you based on our Scripture study and discussion tonight? How can we pray for you as you seek to apply what God has shown you?
