To give us an idea of the ways you would like to serve and your availability, please fill out this form: Volunteering with Antioch Events. We will add you to our contact list and let you know of any upcoming volunteer opportunities as events are planned.Funeral Host/Hostess
We are looking for volunteers who can be available for one to three hours to help greet people attending, direct them to the location of the funeral, help serve food that has been either catered or brought in by Lifegroup members, possibly put away leftover food, then clean up the kitchen afterwards. Grace House is a recovery home where women desiring freedom from addiction live for a year. Volunteers play a vital role at Grace House, serving in a wide range of areas depending on your preference and house needs. From running errands to cleaning the house to simply building friendships and experiencing God alongside residents, our volunteers partner with us to see Jesus bring freedom to women in Waco. Volunteers typically serve in the home (which is close to Antioch) a couple hours at a time, once a week. You don’t need to have any experience or training, just a heart to serve women and a love for Jesus. Find out more on the Volunteer Page of the Grace House website.
STARS volunteers are being salt and light to our city by helping the kids of our community succeed in school and in life! We have two ways to get involved, Book Club and Friday Club. In Book Club, a mentor meets with a group of two or three students for 30 minutes once a week over lunch at their school, where they talk, eat and take turns reading a book together. You don’t have to be a trained teacher or tutor, all you need is a heart to encourage students, help them along as they read and show interest in their lives. This simple model can help kids catch up to their reading level, which can make them four times more likely to graduate from high school and impact the trajectory of their whole life!In Friday Club, mentors meet with kids on Fridays after school for games, crazy challenges, arts and crafts, and small group discussion times, where they offer friendship, encouragement and advice to kids as they’re navigating the transitions of late elementary school and middle school. Through these mentoring programs we are showing the love of Jesus in practical ways to hundreds of kids right here in our church neighborhood!
UnBound mobilizes the church and activates local communities to fight human trafficking through prevention, professional training and survivor advocacy. Missionary Kid (MK) Advocacy supports our overseas MKs prefield, while on the field, during furlough, and upon reentry. Current opportunities to serve our missionaries include:
- Voluntary Missionary Kid Babysitting. If you would enjoy blessing missionaries by offering free, occasional babysitting while they are here in Waco, this is your opportunity! 20-somethings through Grandmas are welcome! Background screening, references, and a quick interview will be requested. Upon completion of these steps you’ll be added to a list of amazing people that our missionaries can call on while they are in town.
- Overseas MK conferences. We periodically have Missionary Conferences overseas during which we love to bless the kids by providing a full-on MK program. Our next events will be in 2019. Would you be interested in jumping in with us to work with MKs the next time such an event arises? Let us know and we’ll add you to our list of folks to contact when the time comes! Background screening, references, and a quick interview will be requested.
- MK Pastoral Oversight. Are you a well-adjusted, spiritually growing MK yourself, college-aged or older? We would love to meet you to let you know about an opportunity to stand with MKs still on the field. Background screening, references, and a quick interview will be requested.
